Members of the Westport Police Department were dispatched to an area hospital on Sept. 23, where there was a report of a woman who had been assaulted by a man during a verbal dispute that turned physical.
Police said that investigators determined that local resident Anthony Risi had been in a verbal dispute with the woman at the medical center, and when staff members attempted to intervene, Risi allegedly head-butted his victim, striking her in the bridge of her nose.
Following the incident, an arrest warrant application was submitted for Risi and it was later approved.
On Friday, Nov. 23, Westport police officers responded to the Bridgeport Police Department and took custody of Risi, who was transported back to Westport Police Headquarters. Risi was arrested and charged with third-degree assault. Risi was unable to post a $25,000 bond and was transported to Norwalk Justice Court on Nov. 26 for arraignment. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to respond to the charges.
